It's the winter solstice in the Northern hemisphere, summer solstice in the Southern hemisphere, and Haiku Day in the U.S. Does that inspire you to write a three-line poem with five syllables in the first and last lines and seven in the middle line?

Today has been low key with our usual Monthly Sunday Good D&D ~ we fought a Draco-lich and chatted about bagpuss, Butlers in the buff, ate lots of Christmas snacks and were pleased at the idea that today, in the Northern Hemisphere, it is the shortest day therefore from now on the days will only grow longer :)

It is also the official seasonal start of Winter, ending on the March equinox.

Not a Winterfest card...

Last year at the office we collected £180 for Oxfam and added Gift Aid (where the UK tax man gives the tax we paid to him earning the money to our charity instead) of £50.40p And what we did was buy, from Oxfam Unwrapped (gift catalogue) was: 2 x school chair & desks [OU2641], 1 x safe water for 50 people [OU2645], 1 x goat [OU2653], 1x loo [OU2648], 1x teach the teacher [OU2639] and 12 x text Books [OU2636].

So this year we are doing the same. And here is my wishes to each and all of you this closing of the calendar year:
