Texan spiders spin 'monster web'
An enormous spider web has been found at Lake Tawakoni State Park, Texas, US.
It is not the work of one giant spider - rather, millions of small ones have been spinning away and now it is twice the size of a football field.

OK, That is freaky!
Now if only it was late October... that would be a GREAT place for a Halloween party!
Hollywood Jesus Dressup! or The Scholarly Journal Archive.
Interesting what people find on the internet.
Young women dominate UK net scene: Young women are now the most dominant group online in the UK, according to new research from net measurement firm Nielsen/NetRatings.
Interesting :) I'd be slightly more chuffed if they hadn't used a baby drinking from a bottle as the picture, but that is logical given the below stats. I wish to point out that I have NEVER visited ANY of these sites. But then I am over 34.

At least they note that "They now account for 38% of game players. Women over 18 represent a significantly greater portion of game players compared to boys under 17. "
Now my understanding of Web 2.0 is that it is the process of putting your life on line, however you wish to do this. MySpace, Facebook, Vox, LJ, Twitter, Flikr, Fotki - all put aspects of your life on public view. Then you have the GoogleMail suite where you have your word / excel (or equivalent) documents out there, in virtual reality, to be used at whatever computer you can log on to.
All very neat. All very cool.
I have more than one LJ, a vox, a Yahoo 360! and a blogger account. I have two photo sites: Zoomr & Flikr. I share a Fotki with hubbie. We both use del.ico.us or however you spell it.
Do I want to twitter? Do I need to Flikr?
How much do I really need to be out there, with all the cool people or the net-savy new-wave of cyber elite?
I have persona elsewhere that you can see: Second Life and Star Wars Galexies. The first is conciously like me - chubby short blonde. The second? Medium sized slim black woman. *Shrug* I deliberately wanted to not look like me back then.
Who am I?
How do you know I am who I say I am?
But then, if you knew me at work, if you talked to me every day in the break room... You wouldn't know about me here or anywhere else.
Oh, I talk about 'I read a friends blog' or some such. I don't say Live journal. I don't say Vox.
OK, that is a lie: once I pimped Vox to my line manager! Family moving away & I suggested they blog via Vox as it is super squeaky simple for the novice, and pimped the security features.
Having said that I have side-bar links to 5 other places you can 'see' me. Literally in some cases - given that there are 3 photo sites. You can read the history I have put on Live journal, the rants I chose to put on Yahoo 360.
You can get a feel for the person I choose to appear to be online.
There is one person here, on Vox, who knows me offline - My Husband. On Livejournal there are more - I started using it because my friends were using it.
I don't know how much they think I am like my LJ.
Perhaps I should ask.
Long way from Web 2.0

OK - this is not acctually my desktop - I seriously don't do my work desktop screencaps as I think that my work one 'belongs' to work. Not on the web.
However here is the picture I currently have as a background, taken from NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day 18-Dec-2006.
