Season changes,

Next year Stonehenge?
Today has been low key with our usual Monthly Sunday Good D&D ~ we fought a Draco-lich and chatted about bagpuss, Butlers in the buff, ate lots of Christmas snacks and were pleased at the idea that today, in the Northern Hemisphere, it is the shortest day therefore from now on the days will only grow longer :)
It is also the official seasonal start of Winter, ending on the March equinox.
PIERCED Goth Kittens? No Goth I know would do that to a kitten!

Sci-fi icon Majel Barrett Roddenberry dies at 76
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Actress Majel Barrett Roddenberry, the widow of "Star Trek" creator Gene Roddenberry and a member of the show's cast, has died. She was 76.
Barrett Roddenberry died of leukemia on Thursday at her home in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Bel Air, her family said in a statement.
Her relationship with Gene Roddenberry, who died in 1991 after the two had been married for 22 years, earned Barrett Roddenberry the nickname "The First Lady of Star Trek."
She had roles in nearly every "Star Trek" television show and movie, playing Nurse Chapel in the original series and lending her voice to the starship's computer in nearly every incarnation of the saga.
She recently finished her role as the voice of the USS Enterprise computer in director J.J. Abrams' movie "Star Trek," which is due out in May, 2009, her family said.
Barrett Roddenberry is survived by her only son, Eugene "Rod" Roddenberry Jr. A public memorial is expected to be scheduled for sometime after Christmas.
Hello Vox,
I realise I don't post here much, too little time and brain matter. Even on LJ most of my alleged posts are actually concatenations of the day's tweets pushed there via LoudTwitter. So probably one of my resolutions should be post more! but what :P I think I should try, on a weekly basis, to blog seriously. OK, maybe not serious posts necessarily but actually try to connect and say something other than 'here are my tweets' and 'oooh, cute link'. Let us see. (although I do have things set up so posting to Vox pushes a link to Twitter! Sad geek girl, very sad geek girl!)
However, I will still post / repost links and weird stuff because, well, I love them!
Like this stuff:

BBC / Legal papers served via Facebook ~ Does anyone else get creeped out by the eye image used for Facebook? It is the fact that the word Facebook is NOT reversed on the eye ball.
Iranian to be blinded with acid for doing same to woman
The three-judge panel ruled unanimously on November 26 that Majid should be blinded with acid and forced to pay compensation for the injuries to Bahrami's face, hands and body caused by the acid.
That was what she had demanded earlier in the trial. But she did not ask for his face to be disfigured, as hers was.
"Of course, only blind him and take his eyes, because I cannot behave the way he did and ask for acid to be thrown in his face," she said. "Because that would be [a] savage, barbaric act. Only take away his sight so that his eyes will become like mine. I am not saying this from a selfish motive. This is what society demands."
Interesting take on it. Shira law is capable of being barbaric, or rather has not been forced to modernise the way English (et al) justice has.
Yet it does satisfy some very visceral need in many people.
Part of me says it is horrible. The other says that this is become so common, acid attack, that the more lenient methods of justice are obviously not having an affect. Or is it the fact that you can pay blood money and 'get away with it'?
"Bettie Page, one of the most famous US pin-up models of the 1950s, has died in Los Angeles, aged 85.
Her provocative poses - often in bikinis - made her a cult figure and she was one of the first models to appear in Playboy magazine.
Bettie Page was credited with helping to pave the way for the sexual revolution of the 1960s.
Some pictures of her showing bondage and spanking generated controversy and attracted a congressional subpoena.
The secretary-turned-model was admitted to hospital last month, suffering from pneumonia. She had a heart attack last week and never regained consciousness."
My icon is NOT her but I realised googling for images of Bettie Page to turn into an icon while at work was possibly not the smartest thing I may have ever done! Nudity as such is not blocked at work but.... *grin* she was a hellava lady!
